Failure hates perseverance

Leading into today’s Grand Final, I keep coming back to something Chris Fagan said: “Failure hates perseverance.”
It captures what I admire about the Lions: belief, doing your role and giving your all, especially when the game turns against you.
In my Human Mechanics framework, performance begins beneath what we can see.
Belief shapes how we interpret a setback. That interpretation shapes what we do next. Each time we stay with our role under pressure, we build evidence that we can face difficulty and keep going.
Today’s result matters.
But results are built in the moments when the outcome is uncertain and you still turn up.
Winning the game, fixing the problem or doing the deal matters. But these outcomes are only made possible by building the internal conditions to perform when they matter most.
