Being kind to yourself

Being kind to yourself means being the same friend to yourself, that you are to the people around you. And this begins with speaking to yourself, the same way you speak to the people you love.
When we speak to the people we love, we are kind, caring and encouraging.
However, when we speak to ourselves, we can tend to be judgemental, hard and overly demanding.
“Look, you failed again”,
“No-one will ever love you” or
“You’re so ugly”.
Look at how you speak to your friends and start being that person to yourself. Maybe the conversation will look more like this ….
“Look how much better you did this time around! I know that next time you are going to smash it out of the park”,
“Look at how many amazing friends you have - you just haven’t met the right partner for you yet”, or
“There’s nothing wrong with your body, so stop creating a false narrative about it in your head”.
Our mind is full of thoughts, feelings and emotions and it is very good at creating a false narrative about ourselves; a false narrative that we come to believe as truth.
Guard against this, guard against negative thoughts about yourself and learn to be a better friend to yourself.
