Do more of the things that make you happy

What are things that you like doing and what are the things that make you happy?


Sit down now and make a list, and when you are done start scheduling more of those things into you daily life.


It’s that simple.


So, if I use me an example, I love running at the gym whilst listening to my music. This lifts my spirit so I just can’t keep still. I enjoy going to the movies, the beach, journaling, writing.


I enjoy seeing friends, listening to live music, comedy. I love to travel and explore other countries and there’s so much more but there’s a start.


So, if these things make me happy and I enjoy doing them, I simply need to start scheduling more of these into my day which gives me the double benefit of having something to look forward to and each day.


I was speaking with a friend of mine one day and he told me he always feels better after yoga. I then asked him how often he did this? Looking blankly at each other we both laughed. He realised that if yoga was something he loved doing maybe he should be doing it more than just once a week.


So, what are the things that you look forward to. What are the things that make you feel better about yourself? Because if you start doing more of these things, your life is going to get better.


So, make a list of ten things you enjoy doing and pick one of them and see if you can do it today! Then schedule when you can do the other nine things over the coming week.


You need to be aiming to do at least one thing you enjoy each day, with more being better. Doing it before work or after work doesn’t matter. What does matter is that you start doing them; each day and every day.


And when you are done with that list, start making a list of some of the bigger things you want to do. Like a holiday or travel, a trip to the ballet or the opera or maybe a big music festival you have always wanted to do.


Remember that you need to have little things and big things in your life that you look forward to, knowing that it will be the little things that are going to shift the needle most for you.
